Hellisheiði Power Plant and Þingvellir National Park

We start with a drive from the centre of Reykjavík through the suburbs, and learn a little about the development and planning of the city on the way. We will be heading east and our first stop is at the Hellisheiði Power Plant. There we will visit the Geothermal Energy Exhibition and get an insight into the harnessing of geothermal energy in Iceland. After a light lunch at the power plant, we continue our tour to Þingvellir National Park. We will spend some time walking and learning about the history and geology of the park, which was recently listed as Unesco World Heritage. We expect to be back in Reykjavík at 15:30, in time to refresh before
the welcoming reception.
