09:45-10:00    Madame Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, Former President of Iceland and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Languages, opens the conference.

10:00-10:30    Colm Tóibín, writer and Mellon Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University: “Home: Wherever That May Be − Exile and Return in Irish Fiction.“

10:30-11:00    Birna Bjarnadóttir, Head, Department of Icelandic Language & Literature, University of Manitoba: “Visions From an Expedition.“

11:00-11:30    Eric Boury, translator: “Authors and Translators − Wondrous Birds of the Same Ilk.”

11:30-12:00    Hans Brückner, visual artist and translator: “Visual Artist’s Translation of Flatey–Freyr: A Short Story in Three Parts.”

12:00-13:30    Lunch break.

13:30-14:00    Massimo Rizzante, poet, writer, essayist, translator and Professor at the Università degli Studi di Trento, Italy: “Childhood, Youth and Other Eternities − Notes on The Swan.”

14:00-14:30    Enrique Bernárdez, translator and Professor at the Universidad Complutense, Spain: “The Art of Telling Stories − From Don Quijote (and Before) to Tómas Jónsson (and Beyond).”

14:30-15:00    Ármann Jakobsson, writer and Professor at the University of Iceland: “The Sea, the Sea: The Frogman and the Aesthetics of the Elements.”

15:15-16:00    Panel: Icelandic writers discuss their relations with Guðbergur Bergsson´s work.
